Welcome back Pilots!
We have been hard at work fleshing out the mid game of Drop Command, while also improving the demo. Many new features and changes in this patch, but the two biggest are definitely:
- Mech Refit Bay usable outside of missions for all units
- AI is greatly improved- this will make the game much more challenging
We're still working hard on balance, so if you are finding the new AI to be too hard, or too easy, please let us know! Looking forward to hearing all of your thoughts and feedback on this update. Full patch notes below.
A note about the Itch.io version: Moving forward we are now using Butler to handle version uploads- no more downloading full copies of the game for every patch.
Patch Notes:
New Features and Changes:
- Mech Refit Bay now available in campaign outside of missions
- AI target acqusition has been improved, leading to faster fire rates
- Pilot injury/survival are now impacted by unit destruction (eg destroyed cockpit/center torso/legged)
- Pirates and Champions now have bespoke uniforms
- Added new accessories to customize pilot portraits
- Added pilot portraits to text tooltips
- Updated Mortuary to include death location, total missions, and total kills
- Code optimization has slightly improved framerates
- Raid mission now provide a range of resources, rather than always 500
- Unit preview tooltips now include maximum speed and movement stats (eg has Jump Jets)
Fixed Bugs:
- Fixed issue preventing pirate leaders from joining battle during Assault Pirate Base missions
- Fixed issue causing Medusa-B to skate on Starport tarmac
- Fixed issue causing turrets and towers to occasionally spawn inside buildings
- Fixed pilot tooltip to show correct uniform based on pilot rank
- Fixed issue causing destroyed vehicles to apply collision damage to infantry
- Fixed issue preventing recruited champions from gaining new traits on level up
- Fixed issue preventing injured pilots from gaining new traits on level up
- "Pass 1 Week" button is now disabled during player Empire setup

P.S. Can you add the ability/function to set your own squads on the fly?
What I mean is the fact that every drop pod/shuttle dictates who's in the squad or not
I kinda wanna be able to have 2 or 3 distinct mini squads (or pairs to be precise) that I can further micro

Thanks so much! I think the on-the-fly squad assignment is a great idea, and I'll add it to the list of features we will consider when we do an update pass on the tactical map.
